Dark Horse Florida Publishing, LLC, was formed in January of 2018 by a group of writers living and working in Gulfport, Florida.  All we wanted to do was to publish our collection of short stories.  That book was published in March of that year.  The book, Jigsaw, attracted the attention of other local writers and suddenly we were holding open mic readings, signing new authors, and preparing other manuscripts.  They are presented below for your enjoyment.

Links that are not yet functional will become so as we upgrade.  If you want something special, please message us on facebook.

BINGE ~ Hayley Beck

Hayley Nicole Beck offers the world her first thirty-one poems in BINGE.  There are more.  One of many single words that may be chosen to describe the work is tidal.  Two crossing themes flood and ebb through the lines as love and anger mix, as they do in all of us, to make life: our lives.  Beck captures both and shows them to us and us in them.

A Cueball in Cloud Country

by Maj Hal Cusick (USAF-Ret.)

An amazing read told from "inside the cockpit" by an officer and gentlemen who converted aviation gas, jet fuel and eager students into the finest Air Force ever known.....an Air Force that swept Migs from Korean skies, survived N Vietnam's air defenses despite intolerable political ROE, and came of age in Desert Storm enabling a 100 hour victory. God Bless patriots like Hal Cusick as they are the foundation underpinning today's Air Force.

~ Major General (USAF-retired) John Schoeppner.

The author flew as a Pilot and Pilot Instructor in fighters and multi-engine aircraft, logging some 4,500 flying hours in twenty-three different types of aircraft from Cubs to Jets before retiring as a Command Pilot.
Major "Cueball" Cusick dedicates this book to the thousands of Military Pilot Flight Instructors without whom there would have been no Magee, Bong, Risner, or even a Rickenbacker.
Everyone should know that for every John McCain, for every John Glenn, and every Chuck Yeager, there was an instructor somewhere who took a snot-nosed kid and turned him into one of those people who had the right stuff.

God, Family, and Freedom ~ John Stoeffler

The cover of the book was painted by John's artist wife.  It is inspirational, and I believe reflects the title of the book – God, Family, Freedom.  The poetry itself is Kind, heartfelt, and, at times, heartbreaking.  Accompanying each poem is a picture that adds to the story each poem relates.

Hey, Allen ~ Bob Foley

Chicago native Robert Foley has been writing for years.  Once a Columbia College student of poet Paul Hoover, and a Northwestern student of poet John Jacobs and author Asa Baber, he honed his craft and style into this volume of poetry collected here for the first time. He also has the unique distinction of being the only Chicagoan to ever witness a no-hitter on both sides of town. Author of the forthcoming bio novel, The Fate of Geography, which captures the turbulent 60s, rambunctious ramblings, architecture, and Wrigley Field’s left field bleachers, he now splits his time between the city of his youth and the warm climes of Florida with his wife Wendy and their canine daughter Michy.

How to be Smart ~ Tom Cuba

"Raven Constrained, Phoenix Untethered” is a collection of poetry that expresses the underlying feelings that people have during deep moments in their life.  Tehzeeb makes a point to express the different avenues people take that grant them the labels that they receive in life - it could be the attributes of a leader, a protector, a villain, or a mastermind.  We have them all inside of us, and sometimes it takes certain situations to bring out those attributes.
